" 1968 - The first Fese own 3-tubes-lmage-orthicon television studio color camera KC 33 was a flop
This color camera tubes KC33 (KC stood for camera color) was around 1966 of the Bosch GmbH on the basis of television tubes, designed and built orthicon color camera.
. That was shortly before the introduction of color television in Germany.
. According to our information, but no tinkering inside GE (General Electric) and also no RCA 4-tube chassis, as long suspected of "ignorance" was.
. There were three 3 " Super-orthicon Fese from own production (which still had its own Fese HV (high vacuum) and their own laboratory glass blowing and could not walk well, how very soon became apparent.
Here, the then display text from the STM 3 / 1967

[My Emphasis]

. The color camera KC 33 040 is a new design from scratch - a three-tube color camera orthicon-lmage. . It is characterized by particularly good color reproduction across the entire spectral range. This applies especially for red hues, and thus also for the complexion.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
. The light sensitivity is unmatched by any comparable camera. . While the intensity of illumination in the studio for optimum picture quality is 800 lux, are themselves transferred to 250 Lux to have good pictures. . The camera is thus equally suitable for use in the studio and for outside broadcasts. . The compatible black and white picture is characterized by the familiar image orthicon character. . The characteristic of the super-orthicon makes the camera less sensitive to variations in lighting.
. The camera design and construction of the transistorized circuit guarantee excellent long term stability. The camera fits in terms of their design harmoniously with the new cassette series of our color devices. By the same image position and parallel tubes in combination with very good shielding by mu-metal and the ferrite is completely eliminated. . The same applies to other external AC fields.
l. Unusually rich operation and adjustment tools to facilitate the handling of the camera in operation: built-in conversion filters and neutral density filter, built Prüfprojektor with three slides, on-screen marker for focal-length display in the electronic viewfinder, a color value signal switcher to cover inspection, oscillograph with triple-electron switch for simultaneous display of red, green and blue, two-level systems for pre-and main amplifier, for gradation control, auto cable-term balance, color adjustment (matching) amplifier, a thin and very flexible camera cable.
. The foregoing is certainly expressed the wishful thinking of this successful (star) from the seller Fese, but in 1967 was the current capabilities of the KC33 diametrically opposed. . It was a flop with three orthicon.
, the beginning of 1967 four cameras were delivered to the NDR. . . . .
and came back by return mail. Two (or three) unnamed doctors of the old guard wanted to developers with a certain dogged persistence (Others speak of counseling resistance) with the (orthicon) head through the wall. . And the 3 "orthicon could address the benchmarks (the ink coverage ie convergence) does not. The so-called target was too big and 3 tubes were the three scanned images too (color) are different, not identical and could not then be corrected. "
