22 tubes in a radio? There was a company "Cadet" IIRC that used to add tubes to a radio for no reason other than to run up the count, so they could say that their radio were better because of all the tubes it used. Like the way transistor radios in the late 50 early 60s bragged about the number of transistors they used.
Oh, if it was a communications SW set, then 22 tubes might make sense.
