If you're going to chance tweaking the audio IF "by ear," without following the factory procedure, you can make a little flag of tape for your screwdriver handle. Note which way it points when you begin, and then count how many half turns (or whatever) you go in a given direction. That way, if your adjustment makes no difference, or it makes things worse, you have a way back to Kansas.
