The guy probably wasn't even there bidding against you, in fact looking at the bidding history your last 2 bids happened nearly 30 minutes after the winning bid was posted. You hadn't even pushed his max yet, but none of us will know if that max was $2 higher than your last bid or $200. So it goes with online auctions, raise your max if you really want something.
