You can usually use fine grade oil and drop a few drops into the Telechron element (that round can thing held by the coil and laminations, it has a spinner inside). The original oil slowly evaporates. Remove the element and turn it with the protruding gear up, and drop a drop of oil and let it soak in, via gravity, then a few more drops. The oil I used is "LIquid Wrench" brand lubricating oil, got it at Ace hardware.
