None of us can hope to recover what we invest in these old TVs. If you view this as entertainment, then spending $100 or $200 on a project that gives you, say, 20 or 30 hours of enjoyment is not unreasonable. Around here, you can spend $10 for 1.5 hours of entertainment at a movie theater, and that doesn't include popcorn!
