I almost count it as a blessing anymore when I see that the line cord is a rotted mess, so the seller has no temptation to plug an old set in.
There was an online auction recently where the seller plugged in a twin rectifier tube set, and wrote something like "I watched the first tube glow purple and then sparkle, and then it stopped. Then the second tube did the same thing. Now nothing happens when I plug it in."
