One learns something new every day.
I didn't know until now that Hallicrafters TVs had mostly continuous tuners (including FM between channels 6 and 7). I've seen photos of some Hallicrafters TVs from the late 1940s (table models with a very small picture -- couldn't have been more than 5 inches diagonal) with the push-button channel selector, which included channel 1, and a separate small fine-tuning control located next to the button for channel 13. Never saw a Hallicrafters television, however, with knob tuning -- continuous or otherwise. The set you worked on in the early '70s or late '60s must have been one of the knob-tuned models.
I did not realize, either, that Hallicrafters made the chassis for TVs sold under the Sears brand name, let alone other house brands. Always thought Hallicrafters televisions were made decades before anyone ever heard of rebadging home entertainment gear.
