That's strange. I would think any TV tuner built for continuous tuning would have to tune from 88 to 108 MHz, and then some (as did the DuMont Inputuner continuous tuner), since the FM broadcast band (and also the old, now obsolete 152-174 MHz police band, not to mention the 108-136 MHz aircraft band and whatever was between 136 and 152 MHz) are right in between channels 6 and 7. How did Hallicrafters design their continuous tuners to skip over the FM broadcast band when tuning from channel 6 to 7? scratch2: The only thing I can come up with is that the tuners had a high/low band switch, on the set or a switch on the back of the tuner, activated by the tuning knob on the TV itself, that switched the tuner directly to channel 7 from 6, thereby completely skipping the frequencies in between. That or else the TV had two separate tuners with separate tuning knobs on the front of the set, one for channels 2-6, the other for 7 to 13.
