You should look for a flyback and yoke ring checker like the EICO 944 or the B&K 1076 analyst. I gave away my spare to a friend a while back so I can't sell you one, but I seem to recall someone on ARF was trying to sell one some time back. You should really test the flyback AND the yoke to see which if either is bad. Once you know which if either your trouble is in it will help you attack and nail the actual issue instead of working solely in theory (which can make one start jumping at shadows after while).
