Fixed the broken band right were the hole is by using the brass part of a feeler qauge, drilled a small hole in the feeler quage first then cut it with metal snips and then after cleaning and sanding the metal parts that need to be soldered and careful alighnment of the broken band, it soldered up and is fixed.
The repaired part of the band is a lot thicker then all the rest, and that should not matter, since that is on the spool with the pin on it, that stays on and never leaves the spool, even when turning it as far to the left or right.
