The MUTE button does not appear to function if it is supposed to cut of all sound

It is more like the LOUD button on more modern stuff, or the contour on Harman Kardon



I just hooked an external speaker up

I just powered it up, volume off, long enough to get a plate reading off of the EL95's

246vdc and the spec calls for 260 so good enough
