All the filaments light without the two 5U4s inserted. Next I will pull out the chassis and disconnect two electrolytic cans. I don't have time to properly stuff these so I will disconnect them and hide the new ones under the chassis. Also need to build a box for the back cover using heavy posterboard.

I will not do anything with the weak CRT until I get a picture on it. I like to SEE and document the results of any kine-related interventions
The high voltage can is the first I have ever seen. I thought the idea was to enclose the fly AND the HV rectifier tube to reduce dust and limit X-ray emissions.
I don't have the factory or Sams schematic on this one but I can usually get by unless something needs some advanced troubleshooting.
The speaker is driven by a 6V6 and pretty impressive, but this appears to be a more expensive TV for late 1954.

The cabinet is pretty grungy, and I can't wait to try Banderson's restoration method using GOJO

A blond finish like this may just need a good cleaning.
