One piece of trivia I've been told over the past few months is that the medical-equipment market is apparently one of the only drivers for ongoing CRT use/maintenance. This is because medical equipment needs to be certified by the FDA, and converting the equipment to LCD or other flatscreen monitors would require re-certification, an expensive proposition.
