I thought the UHF tuners on old TVs would still work with DTV, since the channel frequencies are what they always were -- it's just that 80 percent of the original UHF TV channels have been reassigned to other services, the only ones being available now for broadcasting being, IIRC, 14 to 49. Get the UHF tuner unstuck and you may not have to use a DTV box for anything except QAM or premium channels.
