Whatever problems NBC has now, they are certainly not related to Jay Leno. His show is still the TOP rated late-night show, including among the "most-desired" 18-to-49-year-old group.

Putting Jay Leno in prime time was a brief, "What were they thinking? We have to DO something!" response to whomever thought they should replace him with Conan O'Brien on the Tonight Show. Once NBC figured how to recover from that mistake, they restored Jay Leno to the Tonight Show and regained their long-time ratings lead.

I do not remember any big bunch of "good" NBC shows being cancelled to make room for Jay Leno in prime time, either.
