A few random voltage checks seemed OK then it occurred to me I hadn't tested the tubes yet.
I've never seen such a sorry mix of shorted and weak tubes! I tracked down good replacements for all but the 6CX8 limiter and video amp. I'll continue the search for that one later.

I can't wait to fire it up with the full-sized CRT and giant speaker.
Then I remembered this set has the optional UHF tuner, hooked up a crude loop antenna and gave it a try. Yes, we do still have a few low power analog TV broadcasts in Chicago.
