well the joy was short lived.set took a turn yesterday.i noticed some rather unappealing discoloration on the sides of my sylvania.crt was a 25vamp22 video display rebuild.it tested strong and actually looked good in the set.not there for 2 days and suddenly ,it was there.
couldnt degauss it out or move purity rings.i swapped out the crt in my xl100 parts set.the picture is amazing.rca crt rules!jigged up the other one in a zenith chassis and no discoloration!playing on the bench and no problems.i have seen
this before back in the day.simply,the wrong tube.not compatible for the set.not sure about the vdc tube number.25vamp22 should be a good swap.back in the shop days we got a number of rebuilds that may have been mislabeled.we actually installed a inline gun crt in a delta set due to wrong number.it was a ge 25v inline that had the same neck and plug as a delta.didnt make a picture at all!happened at least 2 times.set looks great now.hopefully it will hold up and i can sit it beside the magnavox bicentennial set,the zenith chromacolor and rca xl100.all from the 70s.sylvania is represented very well now
