Those block caps are my favorite caps to re stuff. Aisde from removing/reinstalling them all you have to do is scrape the tar and guts out with a screwdriver and remove the leads from the terminals to where the guts were then plop the new caps in the shell and wire them to the terminals.
I have heard of furniture restorers making a mold of a good part of the trim molding, and using the mold to make a replica of the missing piece out of wood fill. If you can't find a shop or want to DIY the whole thing this method might be something to look in to.
