I always laugh at that crap too.

I would just politely offer them what you are willing to pay. If they turn it down, just offer them a card with your name, phone number, and just say if they ever have anything in the future that they can sell cheaper to give you a call. You have nothing to loose.

They might change their mind, especially when they plan their going out of business sale.
