3.6 volt computer batteries are readily available and will fit. They will work on a variety of voltages but 1.5 is not one of them. The frequency can be checked with a bare open probe to a scope or counter. Just hold it in front of the mic opening.
There are a number of production variables that make these a challange. Have worked on several of these lately. There are a number of pitfalls the these old cuties, be careful.

BTW a 9volt battery can make enough drive to arc-over at the element!
