I got lucky ,for a change, at a thrift, that I generally haunt.
I picked up a R7000, built in late 1968, in Chicago. There's evidence, that the voltage regulator circuit was repaired.
Naturally, the A/C cord was missing. I know I have one somewhere, but where! I made up my own using a couple of insulated barrel connectors, as the pins are tiny and close together. Someone on that E place is selling a cord, that is really an electric razor cord, claiming it to be a replacement. Too bogus!
BTW, my radio also overloads on the local AM stations. I does have an RF gain control, so I can back it off a bit, to avoid overloading. I'll check the AVC circuit sometime soon.
