Carl, what was done was to take A/V signal and use the Blonder Tongue to convert it to a specific RF channel. Then, the output was sent to whatever device that they used to combine the signals and send them over the cable TV network or transmitter.

What many of us has done is to us the BT modulator to take an A/V signal and convert it to RF, then using something like rabbit ears (matched 300 ohm to 75 ohm) and "broadcast" it for short distances. It works very well with a clear signal. I was able to broadcast about 100 feet (all my property) with no snow. And of course, it did the whole house even though the modulator was in the bedroom on the first floor and the work bench was in the basement with foil backed fiberglass insulation.
