I remember putting on a new cord on my moms cloths iron back when I was in 2nd grade, and taking the iron to show and tell and showed the class what I did, and the teacher didn't believe me and called my folks to see if it was true, and yes, It was true. Also later in grade school my dad got a hold of a old Motorola table model TV that didn't work, and my Dad and I took it apart and replaced several tubes, etc, but never did get it to work. Today I know what was wrong as it had a trapezoid raster, which obviously was a bad deflection yoke. I toyed around with it for hours trying to get it to work, but it was neat anyway, getting some light on the screen and listening to the sound.
