I am confused by the references to "overstuffed" furniture like sofas and chairs evidently from the 50s or 60s. I always think of the furniture from back then as rather firm with cushions that were anything but overstuffed. The upholstery fitted the cushioning like a glove I thought.

When I think of overstuffed furniture, I think of the 80s and 90s when you had sofas and such that looked twice as big as they really were with all the extra sort of pillows sewn to the backs and armrests. Some of it was actually pretty comfortable, but pretty ugly and hard as Hell to move as there was nothing solid to grab.

I wish someone would post a picture of vintage (I guess vintage is relative to one's age) 50s-60s overstuffed furniture so I can get an idea of what it is.
