I have it recapped and I wired in a 6.3 volt transformer for the crt and installed 20 ohms to complete filament string. Everything is fine exept for the vertical section seems to be running at 120 cycles as I have two images, one above the other on screen, I am checking suspect resistors but hav'nt found a problem yet.
Are there any known problems with ceramic disc capacitors from this vintage sets? Diesel Jeep, Any of your notes on your Sams vertical section give me any clues? Thanks
The Sams notes show the following components: C84, C83, C80, C90, C79, C85, C89, C78, C86. The notes also say that, this was a thermal problem as well.
I don't know the tech that entered these notes, but they did say that the ceramic caps, were suspect, as well.
Those sets seemed to be a hot-box design and was subject to thermal related problems.
