There aren't that many TV parts in common between the US and the UK but it looks as if the projection system is one of them.
Here is the Mullard stuff used in Philips and Decca sets over here. CRT is MW6-2.
My parents' first set in 1952 was a Philips 1400 using rear projection with this system. The picture wasn't that great, principally because it didn't have proper d.c. restoration so you got black bands on each side of white objects.

In recent times I've seen very much better results from this system used in a Decca 1000 that projects a 3' x 4' picture on a separate screen. This had amazing resolution (given the picture size) and proper d.c.restoration. See attached test card.
