IIRC the CT-100 was 5,000$ in 1954 when the average car cost about 2,000$, and that UHD set is 40,000 when and average cost of a car last year was about 30,000$. If you look at the cost to be on the cutting(bleeding?) edge of television over the years in terms of how many new cars you could have bought instead (2.5 in '54 vs. 1.3 today) then we are saving about half the cars that we would have to give up to get the TV 60 years ago...
