Well I took a risk on a parts donor set, and came out alright. I bought the set for the clear plastic screen, but the real surprise is it contained a strong 7JP4! After transplanting those two items, it's nice and bright with the lights on in the room. I can tell now it needs some alignment, but I don't have the equipment to do that, but it looks and sounds pretty decent, so I'll just enjoy it for now! The replacement crt has a faint vertical line burned in the center, so perhaps once it lost vertical deflection it got retired. It has capacitors as recent as 1966, and the crt is a RCA, so I guess it had a long time in operation. I do like this little tv!
