If this IS the case , it's a wonder why the seller didn't just outright remove the brightener rather than tucking it partially out of sight ???

Doing THAT without admitting it to a buyer who expects a good tube--to me anyway--would be FRAUDULENT He should have ADMITTED the tube was weak and on a brightener. Not all that different than the old "sawdust in the gears" trick, IMHO.
