There are good people in most any decent retail establishment as well as bad. And yes, they along with others are trained to cater to the modern day D.I.F.M. (do it for me) which is all but replacing the more traditional D.I.Y. customer. Trust me though, there is a huge corporate push to jack up the average ticket sale through often unnecessary "add on" sales that they would say employees are asked to suggest, but in reality they are pushed and bullied into scanning 99 cent light bulb lube when your not looking and throwing it in your big bag banking on you not looking at your big receipt.
I don't want to turn this into a witch burning as it's not why we are here, but I do know this happens and is not isolated. It's really the tip of the iceberg. Glad you had a good experience though as many, many people do.
