It's good to see that radio put to good use rather than just sitting in a box in the basement. When I lived in Los Angeles I used to go to this junkyard that only charged $5 a radio, no matter what it was, so I pulled whatever I found interesting. I've since sold most of them, but still have a few boxes of those car radios.
I kind of hate to admit it, but the best sounding car stereo I've ever had is the factory radio/cd/cassette player in my 2003 Grand Marquis. But I did drive a 72 Impala for a while in which I swapped the original AM radio for an AM/FM stereo 8-track I got from another Impala in that junkyard. I never bothered putting in extra speakers though: I just hooked the front speaker to the right channel, and the rear to the left.
