The 630 had separated audio and video, and was proabably easy to work on, designed before lots of shortcuts and cost reductions were made to TV designs. The later kits sets often had some more modern improvements like ACG, so they wernt really 1940s designs anymore. A lot of the kits were probably bought by servicemen, or for trade school use.
