You could see if the filament lights up, but a 440 cannot supply the correct voltages to check for emissions.

The 8 inch CRTs listed in the 440 setup chart are conventional magnetic deflection CRTs like the 8DP4 not the electrostatic 8BP4.

150 is a little high and starve the tubes filaments a bit but probably OK at least for testing. The 100 ohm resistor would dissipate twice as much as the 50 ohm so the combination would be a 15W resistor.
