I'm going to order a mess tommorow morning for the two projects I'm working on, plus some spares.
I usually order the common .1, .01, .001 and .047 and .0047 in quantities of 20 each. I stock at least a half dozen .47, .022, .0022, and .22 also.

For electrolytics, I stock a half dozen each of 10uF @ 450 , 22 uF @ 450, and 47 @ 450. Whenever I need an oddball .015 or .033 or something, I always order two more than what I need so I have them for the next rodeo.

This way, I can plop a set up on the bench at any given point and have most if not all the values right at hand. I also have a 1 watt resistor assortment I bought on eBay, and I ended up getting a mangled mess of NOS resistors from my buddy Al that he got from someone that was clearing out junk. I sorted every one out into a resistor cabinet.

I've got a good stock of wirewound and ceramic resistors too. Some leftover from projects or sets that were beyond repair, some from that same box that I got the resistors out of.
