If you are using the UA....I MAY have a clue for you. It happened to ME--actually it happened on a COUPLE of sockets besides the UA. It happene don the roundie socket a couple of times--making me mistakenly think one gun was VERY weak--wne in fact it was FINE. (do NOT remember which gun--I do NOT think it was red).
One pin on the plug of the UA (or any other socket too), I think it is on the right side), sometimes tends to get "pushed over_ when you plug the connector in. When this happens...everything APPEARS to work...fils light and all...BUT the EMISSIONS AND CUTOFF ....will NOT begin to read right on ANY tube you test. Not sure which tube electrode that pin leads to--perhaps a grid....but it WILL cause this. it is VERY easy to overlook this problem.
So--pull the plug off and make SURE EVERY pin is in the right place to seat with the connector form the 70. Make SURE one of the pins is not slightly "pushed to the side" to where it misses it's connector.
