I'm of the opinion that at least some of it is real. There is a dead giveaway of overlay in post at about 1:51, I think. Straight-on shot, and the TV moves but the image inside doesn't. Oops. But still a great thing.

I was thinking it was a retrofitted LCD panel with a solid state media player driving it, but in a few shots is looks a little spherical, like a CRT. Not looking at a big enough monitor to tell at the moment.

They could run a full-on CRT TV off battery for the duration of the flight by tagging them onto the back of the set, or sending power down two of the rigging wires. This would allow for heaters in the unit, too.

For the "landing" shot at the end, it might be shot/played backwards, which would require the singer to lip synch backwards (which isn't really that hard), and the drone to fly in, rather than away.

Hope they put out a "making of" video. It would be interesting. He should discuss collaboration with the OK GO guys, too.
