Brought them in the garage and tested the CRTs. The one in the GE tests excellent.

The CRT in the Dumont had an unplugged brightener on it. It started off bad, but with brightener level heater voltage got almost as good as the CRT in the GE...Dropping back to 6.3V after that got me the bottom edge of the good range.
