You should see my LaCie Electron Blue 22 CRT computer monitor, it has 22" flat aperture grille CRT. Absolutely glorious, higher than HD resolution, the pinnacle of CRT IMHO
I think that flat CRTs started with computers, less picture distortions, good for graphics.
Then it became a sales gimmick
