Well, woohoo! Put it back together with the mica cap combo. Aligned the sound and it sounds great! I had removed and cleaned the buzz pot and that seemed to help a lot. Horizontal hold locked in! Scan lines are much closer to the same side top and bottom. Pretty cool. The vertical linearity is the same though. If this is as good as it gets, I'm happy and I think I can squeeze out some more.
I'm using a 6.3V CRT and the yoke that came with it was damaged a little, the housing partially apart. I can see that a straight line across the screen horizontally dips down on the left and up on the right. I'll see if I can kid it into shape and if not I'll put on the one that came with the set. I haven't really tried to tweak it all in yet, but I will. I'm kinda scared to touch it, it's working so well.
