Here's the CTC-5.

Gory details:
This is a Super chassis, arguably the worst early 21 inch set RCA ever made. The design high voltage is only 18.5 kv, making it a real dim-bulb set. I used to have a 21FBP22 glass tube retrofitted in this set, which helped a bit with brightness. The current tube is a re-gunned 21AXP22, so it is the original tube with wide color gamut (especially the green), but it is even dimmer. Also, the particular 21FB that I had gave almost perfect convergence. This regunned 21AX seems to have the gun rotated slightly out of true. To get the corner convergence, you need to to rotate the convergence coil cloverleaf about 15 degrees. You would think this might ruin the purity, but it doesn't. However, I haven't looked at the beam landing with a microscope yet.

This set has been sitting for over a year without being tested since it was shipped from Illinois to Arizona. When I fired it up today, the only obvious problems was that the yoke had shifted and had to be pushed forward to get purity; plus, the red dynamic convergence is way off. [Oh, and the power cord got lost somewhere.] The corner convergence is affected somewhat by that apparent gun rotation. I will be doing some of that never-ending convergence chasing now, I see.

The color actually looks somewhat better in the photos than it does to the naked eye, except for the reflections from room lights. When I turned off the lights, you couldn't see the front of the cabinet. If I hadn't tried to to get this all done this afternoon, I could have fiddled with shooting the CRT with the lights off and superposing that on a good shot of the cabinet.

Edit: When I first fired it up today, the width was inadequate. I am running a variac into an isolation transformer with multiple taps. I found out that the direct side of the isolation transformer Where I have been plugging in the line meter does not have the same voltages as the isolated side. The middle tap is especially different; the high and low taps not so bad. So at that point I just cranked up the variac until I had full width. I will have to put together a two-prong power strip setup so I can plug the TV and the line meter into the same tap and see what I really have.
