Very true about trying to get things to look exactly like the schematic wave forms or voltages spot on.
Now if you really want to beat yourself up, do a purity and then convergence on an old round CRT color set, say from 1959 or so! I remember reading that you should concentrate on the center of the picture and the edges will be as good as they will be (read, not always perfect).
