We used to have the black version of that in my parents' room, and ours was from 1996. It had the XL100 name at the top right of the cabinet, and also Commercial Skip which was a timer you could set to change channels after a certain duration. It was on the top of the dresser and my mom had her computer in there, so she could watch/listen to it while she was on the computer.
It had a really good picture but unfortunately it just wouldn't turn on one day. I suspect hit by a surge. I really liked it though.
Like GE's sets of the time, it was made by Thomson SA.
