1941 Dewald "Jewel" barn sale find
This is a 1941 Dewald model 561 "Jewel" that I scored at a local barn sale. I had already checked the items out and was leaving, but decided to take my time going out. I suddenly saw the radio, but had a feeling the seller would hit me with something like $500 or $1,000 adding "these go for more than that on the Net", but was pleasantly surprised when he said "$50". One of the few good deals I ever got in this hobby!
The set was totally "as-found" when I got it and a few hours of detailing with Novus products made it glow once again. It has a couple of very minor flaws and the knobs are not original, but it's beautiful. It has a warm red-orange-yellow swirled (originally all golden yellow) glow with rich burgundy trim. I love the cool glassy feel of these hefty little sets!
