I don't see why not. It'd be hard to get the adjustment right, though. You could probably use ordinary ceramic magnets, but the spacing and distance between the magnets and the tube neck would probably be a bear to get right. If there's no other option, though, I don't see why not.

So apparently magnetic flux and flux density are different, so you'll have to figure out some math to get the right magnets.
