I always had a high regard for the Motorola sets built at the time. Even the less expensive models where good performers. I have two in my collection.
I always wondered why some tubes were series types, even though the set had a transformer. The Motorola service news stated that it reduced the inventory of tubes that the manufacturer and the servicer had to stock.
