Put a meter across the leads in Rx1 range and if the antenna's UHF element is a loop, run the switch around and generally, the UHF twin lead will measure very low, almost an ohm.

Thanks, will give that a shot. I was trying with the tone setting from one lead to an antenna or loop. It toned both ways, so I figured they were all interconnected internally. I can't open the base as I'd have to remove the felt to find the screws (magnet search of screws didn't work).
