I hope Jeff checked out the link to Classical 101.1 WRR. I've been listening to it off and on for a couple of days. They've been on the air since 1949. They've been classical since the '60s. Used to state "100,000 Watts vertical, 100,000 Watts horizontal". WRR uses no compression other than a limiter to keep those crescendos within the legal FM deviation.

In addition to rock I listen to jazz; fusion jazz, improvisational jazz, big band jazz which my father raised me on, soundtracks of movies... not much else.

Some "rock" I consider near classical. Moody Blues "Nights in White Satin" with the full orchestration, Renaissance "Scheherazade" are a couple that come to mind.

I do agree with Jeff on the state of FM radio. The radio "rock" stations here are terrible, seems they have a play list of maybe 40 or 50 songs they play over and over. One I will tune to, only because the keep their RDS time accurate so I can set the clock in my car radio with it. Then it's outta here!

The only FM station I listen to regularly is 88.1 "The One for Jazz" KNTU from University of North Texas, in Denton. (used to be North Texas State University "NTU").
