They would put up three wall panels to a room. Then they would put up the last wall panel. If it didn't fit, the sledgers were called in to persuade the fourth corner to come together.
My uncle owns an old Sears-Roebuck kit house from the 1910s in Culver, Indiana that he had restored himself, its a large 2-story 4-Square style home.
