One thing about these Panasonic and Quasars were the flybacks going left and right. Once the CompuFocus chassis circa 1984 kicked in, they got a bit better. However, those sets did develop soft CRTs after some time. But the full square tube was the set to have in the mid eighties

Yes, those Matsushita flyback transformers were high failure and some of them would go out rather violently. The TLF14423F was a very popular one in 25" sets that were sold under the Panasonic, Quasar, and GE brands and just about every one of those that I saw had a bad flyback and HOT, a cooked PC board, and a weak CRT.
